Whenever you want to say “I have something” in Russian, you should use the special construction “у меня есть” which basically translates as ”there is something near me”.
Пример
- У меня есть сумка. - I have a bag.
- У тебя есть ручка? - Do you have a pen?
Note: before vowels there is an extra “н” added (у него, у неё, у них).

- У неё есть скейт. - She has a skateboard.
- У него нет телефона. - He doesn't have a telephone.
